Written like an organized blog, A Praying Life is an honest look at the difficulties of prayer, unanswered prayers, and successes in prayer. Readers will appreciate Paul Miller’s down–to–earth approach and practical nature. Parents will find his family–life experiences especially helpful
This is an excellent book that has helped re-inspire my prayer life. It gives lots of food for thought through Miller's sharing of very personal experiences of praying and the difference it can makes to every area of our lives - in both the easy times and the tough. It's a good book to read and discuss with others.
One of the most helpful (possibly THE most helpful of all the) books on prayer I have read. Particularly helpful on the reality of what prayer is "like". Wise, Biblical, warm, practical, encouraging, inspiring and thoroughly helpful.
For those who find themselves driven by the ‘shoulds’ and ‘oughts’ of daily living, Paul Miller’s ‘A Praying Life’ is a welcome invitation to stop striving and be yourself. In his introduction, the author writes, ‘I wrote for Christians, for those struggling to do life, who pray badly yet long to connect with their heavenly Father’. What child of God does not identify with such a description?
If you are stuck in a rut in prayer, this book will help you get out of it. Miller brings out the freedom we have to pray to our Father, and gives helpful practical tips. The personal stories he shares brings his teaching on prayer. Prayer teaches us to depend on God rather than trying to be saviours. It is not a classic like Keller's book, and I would have liked more on the theology of prayer, but is still very helpful.
