6 tips to help you read Christian books

1. Start small – nobody goes to climb a mountain without first conquering a hill. There are plenty of great books that can be read in an hour or two. Conquer one of those, then step it up when you’re ready.

2. Read little and often – you don’t need to set aside whole days for reading. In fact, if you can find 15 minutes each day, you’ll likely get through at least ten books in a year.

3. Find a cosy spot – whether it’s sipping a latte in your favourite coffee shop, or hiding under a blanket in a quiet corner at home, make reading a comfortable experience.

4. Read with a friend – get hold of a copy each, read a chapter during the week, and have a chat about it at church on Sunday.

5. Get recommendations – books are just like coffee, cake and carrier bags – there are good ones and bad ones! Make sure you’re getting hold of good books by taking recommendations from friends, pastors and other people you trust.

6. Mix it up – vary your reading between biographies, Bible studies, fiction and doctrine, between books to inspire, books to challenge and books to teach… keep it interesting!
