The books of Ezra and Nehemiah tell of the return of God’s people to Jerusalem after their years in exile, and of the heartache and comfort they felt as they rebuilt their fallen city. In this engaging and clearly written commentary, Peter Adam highlights the power of the word of God in this period, both as it was fulfilled in the restoration of his people, and as its leaders, Ezra and Nehemiah, urged them to make it the backbone of their new life.
I thoroughly enjoyed working through this book which goes through Ezra and Nehemiah in sections, with really helpful chapters to help you meditate on the books' main themes and ideas. This is not a technical, jargon based commentary but a very readable resource, bringing together key points which made it very accessible to me. I've read books by Peter Adam before and always found them really engaging and helpful. These books are perhaps a little neglected for Bible study, but full of rich material to inspire us to hold fast to God's word amidst opposition.
