They knock on your door, unannounced often when you’re just sitting down for your evening meal, and are keen to talk to you about the state of the world. If you choose to listen to them you will no doubt find yourself agreeing with much of what they say. But aware of this danger, and perhaps feeling ill-equipped to deal with their slippery arguments, many of us would rather hide behind the curtain and pretend we aren’t home… letting these evangelistic opportunities pass us by.
In this comprehensive guide to what you need to know about Jehovah’s Witnesses, ex-Jehovah’s Witness, Tony Brown, shares his extensive knowledge and experience of the teachings of the Watchtower Society. He explains what Jehovah’s Witnesses believe, why their message is so compelling to so many, and how their doctrines differ from those of biblical Christianity. He provides many practical tips for ways in which we can seek to share the gospel with these neighbours.
If you’ve ever wanted to share the gospel with a Jehovah’s Witness, but not known where to start, then this book will give you the practical knowledge you need to come out from behind the sofa and open the door.
Tony Brown, who is himself a former JW, has written a very helpful short book on the main issues Christians will want to keep in mind as they interact and reach out to JW's. He uses the JW's own version of the bible to show the inconsistencies of many of their beliefs, as well as highlighting those areas where the New World Translation has changed the original text to suit the JW's unbiblical theology. He encourages us to exercise 'CPR' - Care, in sharing the truth in love; Prayer, for this is a spiritual battle; and Resolve, because typically it will take time for any fruit to appear, but we must keep on caring and sharing. The results are in God's hands.
Excellent. Well structured. Easy to read. Gives good advice and scriptures. Definitely recommend.
This book will broaden your understanding of what Jehevoah’s Witnesses believe, it will help you engage well with them and it will make you want to share the good news of Jesus with them. I always found it difficult to engage with Jehovah’s Witnesses, but now I feel more confident because I know what they believe and how to engage well with them.
This book shows how to challenge the errors of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and point them to the Jesus of the Bible. It is not a systematic outline of JW beliefs. Rather it outlines the most fruitful avenues for discussing those beliefs with those who hold them. Each chapter ends with questions to ask JWS, which are a helpful guide. And of course truth must be partnered with love. Relationships are the bridge.
