I’m conscious that many Christians wouldn’t describe themselves as ‘readers’ and yet reading good Christian books is a great habit for Christians to develop. There are all sorts of Christian books: some help us to understand and enjoy the Bible; others teach us who God is and what he’s done for us, in such a way that we grow in our love for him and our desire to serve him; some show us how good and faithful God has been in the lives of his people and the history of the church; others help us to understand a particular topic – they help us to grasp the reason for the hope that we have, they equip us to answer the tough questions people ask, or how to navigate our way through a changing world; and many are brilliant for reading and then giving away to others. Whether you would describe yourself as a reader or not, let me encourage you to buy and read some of the books you’ll find here. As you do, I hope very much that you will ‘see the Lord Jesus more clearly, love him more dearly, and follow him more nearly.’
