California’s gold country, 1850. Angel expects nothing from men but betrayal. Sold into prostitution as a child, she survives by keeping her hatred alive. What she hates most are the men who use her, leaving her empty and dead inside. Then she meets Michael Hosea. A man who seeks his Father’s heart in everything, Michael obeys God’s call to marry Angel and to love her unconditionally. Slowly, day by day, he defies Angel’s every bitter expectation until, despite her resistance, her heart begins to thaw. But with her unexpected softening come overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. So Angel runs. Back to the darkness…A powerful retelling of the book of Hosea, Redeeming Love is a life–changing story of God’s unconditional, redemptive, all–consuming love. A page–turner.
I would highly recommend it, especially to women. It had me laughing and weeping the whole way through. This rewriting of Hosea tells the tale of how the love of God, through a noble man, can cover over a multitude of sins and transform a wretched heart to beauty.
This is one of the best Christian novels I've ever read. It's heart-breaking and moving and Francine captures the reality of the emotional brokenness abuse and exploitation leaves women with. But she also captures the reality of God's love, the hope that He gives and the power that His people have when they love unconditionally. This is the first novel Francine wrote after she became a Christian in the midst of a career writing Romance novels, and it's clear that God has captivated her heart. It reads like a romance novel, but with all the hope and joy that comes with knowing Jesus. Every woman should read it - and men should give it a go too!
